Beach holidays are
extremely popular in Cape Town, especially after
a week on safari or touring. There are many
beaches to choose from with a wide variety of
accommodation to match. From the Atlantic waters
lapping Camps Bay to the surf at Fish Hoek, a
Cape Town beach holiday has much to offer all
tastes.
Beaches worth a mention:
Camps Bay
-
(Atlantic)
-believed by many to be the finest beach in the
world, this beach is lined with palm trees with
tons of restaurants and coffee shops across the
road. Its known for its soft white sand, awesome
views of Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles. The
water, be warned, can be cold.
Clifton
- (Atlantic) -
this is one of the hottest beaches in Cape Town
- in every sense of the word HOT! It is
protected from the wind and is frequented by the
"beautiful bodies". It is popular for picnics on
a Friday and Saturday evening. With no waves and
safe swimming (cold) it is a great place for
children.
Hout Bay
- (Atlantic)-
This is a long beach at the foot of Chapmans
Peak Drive. The beach runs from the mountain to
the harbour and is fantastic for boat trips to
Seal Island or for jogging and long walks. The
water is a little warmer than at Camps Bay and
swimming is safe. Ideal for children.
Muizenberg
- (Indian
Ocean)- This is located in False Bay, like Fish
Hoek beach. The water there is warmer and many
local Capetonians swim and surf here. The
surfing is fantastic as the waves are long and
the surf is not too rough.
Llandudno
-(Atlantic) -
This is one of Cape Town's secrets! It is tucked
away from view on the road to Hout Bay and sits
beneath one of the best lookout points in the
Cape. It is a beach frequented by locals and the
sand is soft and white. It's great for surfing
but not the safest beach for children as the
surf can be rough. Ideal if you want to play
ball games or throw a Frisbee.
Other beaches
worth a mention are:
Fish Hoek,
Bloubergstrand, The Strand and Boulders -
