Many people fail to see these treasures because they are a little less well advertised and take some searching to find. Day 1 – Take a drive to Somerset West, a stunningly beautiful and tranquil town 20 minutes from Cape Town. Check into your guest house, where service is something special. In the afternoon, head out to Monkey Town in Gordon’s Bay (5 minutes away) for a real treat. Then pop down to the Strand and take a glorious walk on the beach – the warmer water in Cape Town. Then for tea, take a drive to the top of Sir Lowry’s pass (10 minutes) and stop for some special photos. Watch the hang gliders leap from the side of the mountain if conditions are right. The 5 minutes on, have tea at the Orchard in Grabouw.

 

Day 2 – Drive out to The Arabella Spa for a day of pampering and luxury. This six star resort will soak away every care. Relax in the spa or take a special beauty therapy treatment, or have a round of golf. While you sit and enjoy a beer in the pub or around the huge sparkling pool, work will seem like a million miles away. Overnight in the Arabella Spa or in nearby Hermanus at a guest lodge.  

 

Day 3 – Franschoek. If there is one place you must visit it is Franschoek. Take in some world famous pancakes at Gideon’s pancake house, and lunch at Le Petite Ferme. If you would like something special take a tour of the cellars at Haute Cabriere, and then visit the galleries and art shops dotted all over town. Overnight at a picturesque cottage in Franschoek with private swimming pool, set amongst the orchards.

 

Day 4- Take a drive out to Wellington to enjoy the country side. Enjoy walks, hikes, fishing, scenery and the luxury of Bovlei Valley retreat. This is something very, very special. The owners have gone to great lengths to ensure special stay. A cosy swimming pool is on hand to soothe the muscles that have been put through their paces on your walks. Overnight at Bovlei Valley Retreat with a sumptuous breakfast.  

 

Day 5 – set off back to Cape Town or on up the garden route.
